Contents page

This is my contents page, I have shown where the editors note, photo and advertisement would be placed. But I decided to practice the style and layout of the 'whats inside' feature. I have kept the same colour schemes as on the front cover and I included the brand name and tag line at the top of the page.

Front cover

I have completed my front cover and I'm quite pleased with the outcome. I decided to name my magazine FAB because it's a simple catchy name with a sense of fun. I purposely kept the font type the same except the title/logo. I wanted the title/logo to be recognisable so I chose a bold font and spaced the lettering out to create an effective impact. Red is an eye catching colour which is why I wanted my title/logo to be in that colour. For the tag line 'The Sussex Downs College Magazine' I chose the colour white as it works effectively with the red. I liked the look of the colours together, therefore, I kept that colour scheme for the fonts through out the page. I included the issue number and date in the top left corner as typically in most magazines it is placed in that area in a small font.
I placed the main cells each side of the image, I chose a word or words relevant to the context and put them in red, so the reader gets an idea of whats inside just by browsing at the front cover quickly. I placed the main headline at the bottom of the page in the centre, so it's obvious that it's an important feature.

Flat scans

This is a basic flat plan for the front cover of my magazine. I decided to call my magazine 'Fab' because it's a fun, short and snappy word which can easily be remembered. At the top of the design I have incuded the date and issue number by the title. Underneath the title I have included a strip line. I have placed my chosen photo beind the text, filling out the whole page. The main cells are linked to sport, gossip and socialising, which is what a majority of college students would want to read about.

Above is the basic flat plan of my contents page. Running along the top I have placed the magazine title/logo as I've noticed many magazinezs do this. I have chosen to add photos to enchance interest and support the text. Advertisements and the editors note are elements frequently seen on many magazine contents pages.
